Life is busy! There is so much going on all around us, all the time. There’s always something more to do. There’s always someone else to tend to. There’s always some place you need to be.
But do you ever pause and rest? Do you ever allow yourself to simply be? To be present in the moment?
How about when you’re with your family? Are you fully present; or are you physically present but mentally in a hundred other places?
We have so many demands in life pulling on us, all in different directions. Family, work, school, sports, church…the list goes on and on, doesn’t it?
But do you ever allow life’s demands and worries about tomorrow to wash away? Even if it’s just for a moment? Do you ever take time to hit the pause button in life?
I Too Have Blown It
As I’m writing this, I too am reflecting upon how I have blown it in this area. I have neglected my family, all in the name of trying to be, do, and have more. Telling myself that if I work hard, earn more, I’ll be able to provide my family with more “stuff”. All the while, I’m missing the most important things right in front of my face.
The funny thing is, you never hear anyone at the end of their life say, “You know, I wish I had spent more time at work.” You never hear people say, “I wish I had spent more time climbing the corporate ladder, all the while sacrificing my health and family, for the magic pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.”
After all what is it that our families want? More stuff…or our presence?
My challenge to you this week is to be present. Make time to be with your family, and actually be present in the moment. Put your phone down and engage…while you still have time. While they’re still around.
You can do it. I believe in you! I believe in your dream!!
Be blessed,
Chris Chandler
